One year before the explosion of the BP Deepwater Horizon rig, resulting in millions of gallons of oil spilling into the Gulf of Mexico, award-winning actor and director Kevin Costner and his friend, Patrick Smith, began development of the first line of defense against oil spills.
Since 1995, Costner has funded and developed a revolutionary centrifuge technology that provides the petroleum industry the ability to safely and successfully respond to and recover oil from spills. Smith, providing his notable business experience and acumen, was able to help transform and refine this technology into a marketable and viable business.
